Remembering..
9/11 I was at the funeral of a gentleman from church. My husband is a pastor and involved in the service. My baby, just over two month old, was in my arms. As I overhead some staff at the church where we were holding the funeral say things like, under attack, NY city, bomb, I could tell something had happened, but had no idea what it was. On our way to the graveside, we tried to process what we were hearing on the radio. I remember how quiet everything became when all flights were grounded. We live close to two major airports outside of DC and you don’t realize how much the sound of planes overhead is just a part of life until they go silent. So many questions. Feeling very vulnerable. Anxious.
The verse that was impressed on my mind and heart that day was this:
So many times evil is loud, big, strong. How can good overcome it? Reading all of Romans 12 gives me a picture of God’s heart and how I can overcome.
Now, as than, I need this reminder to continue doing good. Do not be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good.
